All England Open Betting Guide: The Draw, Daily Sessions, Your Time Zone and How Markets Settle

All England Open betting rewards planning more than most badminton events. Five disciplines run side by side for six days, the schedule changes overnight, and the sessions land at very different hours depending on where you live. This guide explains how the draw unfolds, how to read each day’s order of play, what time the matches start in your zone, and which of our markets fit a week-long tournament better than a single fixture.

What makes the All England different from other badminton events?

First played in 1899, it is the oldest tournament on the circuit, and today it sits at Super 1000, the top tier of the BWF World Tour alongside a handful of other events. That status brings the strongest fields: almost every top-ranked player enters, so upsets in early rounds are rarer than at lower-tier events, and the odds on favourites are correspondingly short.

There are five titles at stake: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. With a 32-entry main draw in each, a winner has to come through five matches in six days, which makes fitness and draw position more important than one-off form.

How should you read the draw and the order of play?

The draw is published before the event and tells you each player’s path to the final. Look at it as a bracket: a seeded player with two qualifiers in their quarter has a far easier route than one drawn against a former champion in round one.

The usual rhythm of the week:

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: round of 32, with several courts in use at once.
  • Thursday: round of 16.
  • Friday: quarter-finals.
  • Saturday: semi-finals.
  • Sunday: all five finals.

The order of play for each day appears only after the previous day ends, so a match you plan to bet on may move from the afternoon to the evening session. Check it the night before and again on the day.

What time do All England sessions start where you are?

The event is held in March, normally before the UK switches from GMT to BST, so Birmingham time equals GMT. Taking a 10:00 GMT session start as an example:

  • India: 15:30
  • Bangladesh: 16:00
  • Thailand, Vietnam and western Indonesia: 17:00
  • Malaysia and China: 18:00

An evening session that opens at 17:00 GMT therefore starts between 22:30 and 01:00 across Asia. If the next edition runs after the UK clock change, add one hour of difference to every figure above.

Outright or match bets: which All England Open betting markets suit a six-day event?

Outright markets ask who will win a discipline. They open before the first serve and are priced on the whole bracket, so the draw matters as much as ranking. A stake of 10 units on a pair at 7.00 returns 70 units if they lift the title, but the selection has to survive all five rounds.

Match markets settle on a single contest. The common ones are the match winner, a game handicap of ±1.5, a points handicap and a total-points line. A useful pattern for evenly matched opponents is backing the outsider at +1.5 games: at 1.55, 20 units return 31 if the outsider takes at least one game, even in defeat.

The odds formats you can choose from depend on your region.

What happens when a player retires, withdraws or gives a walkover?

Injury withdrawals spike late in the week, when players have five matches in their legs. A walkover means the match never starts; a retirement means it began and stopped. We settle the two differently, and outright bets on a player who withdraws stand as a loss. The exact wording is on our sports rules page.

If you bet in play, know the natural pauses. Each game has a 60-second interval when the leader reaches 11 points, and there are two minutes between games. Prices often move sharply during these breaks, especially when one side changes ends in a deciding game. Why are we at the All England, and what does it mean for you?

We are an official partner of the YONEX All England Open. The 2025 YONEX All England Open was the 115th edition, held at the Utilita Arena Birmingham from 11 to 16 March 2025, with 155 matches and more than 50 hours of live badminton. Badminton England runs the tournament, and its CEO Sue Storey said the partnership helps take the event to a wider global audience.

For you, that means two things. First, a federation with more than a century of history chose to work with us, which sits alongside our 18 years in the market as part of our record. Second, it changes nothing about the prices, which follow form and the market. Behind-the-scenes photos are in our story on the creator trip we organised for the 2025 event.

All five titles are contested every year, and we offer outright and match markets for each.
